Caring for your Dragonseed Coppercrafted Jewellery Handcrafted jewellery can seem to become part of the wearer as time passes, as it is so carefully and uniquely made to be special and individual. Dragonseed Coppercrafted Jewellery is made with high quality copper, glass or natural beads, and semi-precious stones. There is no aluminium, lead, or nickel metals used, as these can cause allergic reactions, or are just plain bad for your health. You may notice, particularly if you have a copper bracelet, that a greenish film occurs on your skin. These are copper chelates, it happens when you wear it continuously, or if you sweat. These chelates are harmless (unlike an aluminium chelate for example) and can actually be beneficial (see Copper Healing for more info). There are no lacquers used to preserve the original very initial shiny color of the copper, as these peel off in time, and offer little but a temporary synthetic covering. There is no rival to the color of copper, and over time, the colour becomes deeper and more rich, darkening in shades of copper hues. Do not be alarmed by this natural process, it is quite beautiful. If you do have the desire to give your Dragonseed copper jewellery a clean, you do not have to go buy an expensive cleaner. Sometimes just having a shower with it on will help. But for a shinier clean, simply soak your jewellery in pure lemon juice (freshly squeezed... or not) for a while. Sometimes a 1/2 hour will do it, or a few hours, depending on how shiny you want it. Important note: Some of the Dragonseed copper jewellery has porous stones in it, such as lapis lazuli, sodalite, turquoise, calcite, or some others that may appear to be porous. Many stones are not porous. If your jewellery contains one of these porous stones, or if you are in doubt, I would recommend not soaking it in lemon juice at all, or in water for very long periods of time, as it slightly wears away the stone. Its not disastrous, but the stone ends up with less of a shine and shows to be more... well, porous. Another note: Due to the nature of the swirls and curls and twirls and such, of Dragonseed jewellery, I do not recommend wearing your finest delicate knits with it. |
